Before the first move
The Panteldakis Countergambit is a high-risk, high-reward response to the King's Gambit. By striking back immediately with f5, you create a symmetrical tension that challenges White's authority in the center. Both sides must navigate extreme tactical complications as the kingside files open up early in the game.
1. e4White
White starts with e4, the most popular move in chess. It immediately controls the center and prepares for a kingside attack. While Black usually responds with e5, you might also see the Sicilian Defense with c5 or the French Defense with e6.
1... e5Black · your move
Respond with e5 to meet White's claim on the center. By mirroring the move, you prevent White from pushing d4 easily and establish your own foothold in the middle of the board.

2. f4White
White plays f4, the King's Gambit. This is a bold, romantic attempt to dismantle your center. White could have played more quietly with the Center Game after d4 or the Alapin with Ne2, but f4 signals an immediate fight for the initiative.

2... f5Black · your move
Push your pawn to f5 to launch the Panteldakis Countergambit. Instead of defending, you counter-attack White's e4-pawn directly. This creates a double-edged position where both kings are potentially exposed, forcing White to find precise responses.
